ABOUT THE BOOK                        
John Meron, a happily married father of two who's never been in
trouble, receives a phone call that will change his life for ever: his friend Jack Galley, a high-flying City lawyer, is
screaming; down the phone for help. As Meron listens, Galley is murdered. His last words, spoken to his killer, are the
first two lines of Meron's address.
Confused and terrified, Meron scoops up his children and hurries out of the
house. Just in time. Within minutes, a car pulls up outside, and three men get out. It's clear that they're coming for
him. He's being hunted and has no idea why. And with his wife missing, an unidentified corpse in her office and the

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Simon Kernick (born 1966 in Slough, Berkshire) is a British thriller/crime writer now living
in Oxfordshire with his wife and two daughters. He attended Gillotts School, a comprehensive in Henley-on-Thames,
Oxfordshire. Whilst he was a student his jobs included fruitpicker and Christmas-tree uprooter. He graduated from
Brighton Polytechnic in 1991 with a degree in humanities. Kernick had a passion for crime fiction writing from a young
age and produced many short stories during his time at polytechnic. After graduating Kernick joined MMT Computing in
London in early 1992, where a relative was the Chairman and Managing Director. Kernick was a key member of the sales
team and was very highly regarded. However, he left the company after 4 years in the hope of trying to secure a
publishing deal. Despite interest from a number of publishers Kernick was unable to secure a deal, so he joined the
sales force of the specialist IT and Business Consultancy Metaskil plc in Aldermaston, Berkshire in 1998 where he
remained until he secured his first book deal (The Business of Dying) in September 2001. His novel Relentless was
recommended on Richard & Judy's Summer book club 2007. It was the 8th best-selling paperback, and the best-selling
thriller in the UK in the same year. 

 
ABOUT THE READER
Paul Thornley was born in London and trained at the Guildford School of Acting graduating with the Musical Theatre
Award. He performed in the West End and European touring production of Scrooge with Anthony Newley.
Paul is a
talented actor and interpreter of text, with a fantastic sense of timing and character. Paul has appeared in a number of
popular television shows, including ITV's popular comedy drama Life Begins, Foyle's War and Ashes To Ashes; the sequel
to the award-winning BBC drama Life On Mars.
Paul has been hailed by many as the 'The Voice of Crime' - due to his
gripping and authentic narration of Layer Cake and Mark Billingham's bestselling Tom Thorne novels. He also brings
brilliant warmth and humour to the observational comedy, The Understudy by David Nicholls
